Toggle AI problem

I tried running the official game in dungeon master mode, testing it with another player. I went to an area with a couple of skeletons that would attack when the player went down the hall, and was testing to see if I could duplicate turn by turn combat. I clicked the 2 skeletons from the Chooser menu, then pressed Toggle AI on both. They updated and showed AI disabled next to their character. Yet, when I unpaused the game, they went and attacked the pc. Am I misunderstanding how toggle AI is supposed to work? I though it turned it off so the creature does nothing but stand there.

    I guess after 5 years of no response, there is no answer...lol.

    While I'm not sure, I'm guessing that the "AI" which is toggled is the "haven't seen the PC yet" AI and not the "actively attack" AI. Yes, there's more than one level of AI for each NPC. I believe that there's at least three levels, with one being "no PC in the area," the next being "PC in the area but unperceived" and the final one being "actively attack or interact with PC."
