Weirdly behaving characters

So im a long time fan of BG 1 and 2. Played them both so many times that I almost know them from heart so I decided to start out with the black pits instead.

Now I am not 100% sure this should be posted in bugs but here I go.

The first issue is that my characters refuses to sometimes do what I tell them. I tell my mage to attack using his slingshot and he uses magic missle instead. I tell him to shot magic missle on an enemy and he uses it on another enemy or he walks a bit toward my target and then shoots it against a closer enemy.

I tell my archer to attack one enemy and he also switches to another I tell him to use his bow but then the enemy has moved half way towards him he then either backs away or pulls his melee weapons out and charges.

Frankly the characters are 60-70% of the time not doing what I want and tell them to do or they do it on the wrong target. This is frankly quite annoying and I have'nt tried the main game yet just the pit but if this is'nt a bug is there anyway to turn it off?

Also when my characters are downed they will be lying flat down on the floor with 1 hp which I get but why is my own characters attacking them and doing what i explained earlier choosing my downed characters as their "closest" enemy and even if I click to attack an enemy, if they are to far away they will just go back and attack the downed character (talk about short attentions span xD)

Same goes with the enemy getting stuck attacking the downed characters making it super easy to win if my melee goes down and I stick back with ranged.

So in short this auto combat, tactic's or AI is flawed for the moment atleast and I'd really like a way to turn it off so I can micro manage in peace without my character getting any funny ideas about freewill and democracy (Cant have my ironfist rule questioned!)

    Do you have AI toggled on?

    @tobajas

    One of the buttons in the lower right corner is to toggle the AI on or off.

    But your orders are supposed to override the AI I think.

    Thank you thank you. Found it, It's the lamp in the lower right corner was looking to far away duh -.-. Not sure about the override thing it works for about 2-3 seconds then it goes back on sometimes not even that long.

    @tobajas Didn't see your bit about them attacking downed allies. Is this something that happens repeatedly?
  • tobajastobajas Member Posts: 77
    Yes as I said earlier both my character and the enemies attacks the downed allies as if they were everyone's enemy

    There are many topics out there already stating that the characters are not doing what was told to them. Maybe merge this topics? He is not the only one who is suffering from this problem. And yes, in BG1 and BG2 you could override the AI with your orders.
