Me too. Just had time to launch game but did not find an option in the menu. Do we need to edit the .ini file like in the old days?

wtf it better not be a fixed resolution...

The game runs at your desktop's resolution, this is by design (it's for your own good!).

The graphic options screen is missing some buttons at the moment, this is a known bug. However, there is no option to change resolution, not even in the .ini file.

Somethin's gotta give soon here with the graphics options. The only .ini file that exists is baldur.ini contained in the BGEE folder under Documents. It's strange though because it's not your typical .ini file, seems to contain some SQL that inserts data into a Game options table.

My resolution is not 1920 x 1080... its way too big.. could it be my game is not reconizing my comp resolution or graphic card?

The only in-game graphics option I currently have is whether to full-screen or not. That said, the game seems to be fine on my 1920x1080 monitor...I'll know more tonight, when I actually go into the game for the first time in about eight years.

There's a lot of stretching happening. I thought it was meant to have full support for HD.

Edit: /\ This pretty much. Even though my screen is 1080p it stretches interface and text elements. The whole thing looks blurry.

So it cant run at 1920 x 1080? everything looks too big to be on max resolution...

The GUI scales to always keep things at roughly the same proportions. If you were able to change your resolution it wouldn't change the size of the GUI. Actually you wouldn't see anything besides a drop in sharpness, as is always the case when running at a non-native resolution.

I agree that the GUI could use higher-res source art and sharper scaling. I've been pretty vocal about it in the beta test, but alas, not everything I say gets done. ;)

Yeah, its scaled up but it looks pretty blurry, i'm finding this whole 'enhanced' thing a little doubtful, at least as far as graphics are concerned.

It will run at 1920x1080 if that's your desktop resolution. If you really need to see what it looks like at that resolution, change your desktop resolution temporarily. As I explained, it's not going to make things any smaller or bigger; the game scales to always keep the same proportions.

I personally don't mind the similar graphics, the blurry text/interface/general scaling I could live without though. A little disappointing, there were widescreen mods that made the original game look better.

    Hopefully some options get added.

Yea there were widescreen mods that looked sharper somehow... lets hope options get added soon...

This is ridiculous. I paid $20 for a game I already have BECAUSE IT HAD IMPROVED DISPLAY OPTIONS. Instead I get no hud options, no resolution options, only a choice between full-screen or windowed....
  • ZeckulZeckul Member Posts: 1,036
@Capac_Amaru why would you want to change the resolution?

Really? I think you're the only one who bought this game for "IMPROVED DISPLAY OPTIONS", seeing as they've stated, on numerous occasions, that because of the outdated engine, possible upgrades to the graphics have been near-impossible. I, along with most others I'm guessing, got it for the 400+ bug fixes and new content.

No need to be abrasive to people. I too wanted the display options and such. The supposed auto-detect desktop resolution is something left to be desired especially on my system which shows the game clipped.

400+ bug fixes? Maybe 400+ more bugs added by the looks of the forum posts today. Lots of unhappy people and issues...

Impossible? Really? You can re-scale the window the game is in, but you can't select different resolutions? Maybe I want to scale the game at 720 resolution for recording. The only way to do this is to guess what size the window is, or change my desktop resolution and run it full screen. And when I play it at 1920 x 1080 I'd rather have tiny buttons than gigantic blurry ones.

"Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition features an updated and improved interface that has native support for high resolution and widescreen displays."

Giant blurry buttons are not 'native support for high resolution displays'. They should have included an option to lock hud size. They should have included a redrawn hud for higher resolutions. They should have included multiple resolution options. None of these are impossible.

It also turns out the game records the previous window size, so now I can't return it to the default.

@Capac_Amaru you can set the window size in the Baldur.ini file.
    'Graphics', 'Width', '1280',
    'Graphics', 'Height', '720',

The default is 1024x768 I think.

@Capac_Amaru I had the fuzzy button/text issue I fixed it by going into my Nvidia control panel and turned everything back to default except for vertical sync which I have forced on hope that helps you issue =)

It should be a menu option.

    Hi,

I must say that this resolution (no)change is going after my nerves too. Don't get me wrong, guys from Overhaul made a really good job by resurrecting this legend of all legends, but still I have a wrong feeling from this game. Only for yesterday's 2 hours of playing I found few bugs.
Anyway this is not a topic about bugs - to the point then.
When I played original BG2 SOA (TOB) there were a nice little configurator. Don't tell me, that is not possible to add something similar. And the resolution of GUI - even if you play in a window mode and has set 1024 x 768 in INI, GUI is overscaled. If I recall correctly in BG2 was GUI on 1024 x 768 scaled accordingly and not like in this case (and it was unsupported by engine) - just try to run alongside BGEE and BG2 set the same resolution and play in window. The same goes for TUTU mode for original BG.
