How to launch game once downloaded?

I preloaded the game 5 days ago, then got the 500mb update, then got the 100mb update, added the AL thing when prompted today. I launch the beamdog client, it shows a 'start' button. I click it and get a few seconds of a clock icon thinking, then nothing. How do I start the game?
