Unbearable Stutter and Lag

Hello!

I managed to install and run BGEE without any issues, except that the cinematics and gameplay lags so much it is essentially unplayable.

Now, I had this exact problem when I installed the original BG series on my computer, and I resolved it flawlessly by simply turning off 3D Acceleration, and I strongly suspect it might be the same issue. However I don't see an option for that in the game settings and whenever I tweak the .ini file, it always reverts back to turning it back on whenever I run the game.

Does anyone know how to keep the Acceleration off? Or, if it's possible, some other way to get rid of the stutter?

I'm running Windows 7 with Intel and nVidia Optimus graphics.

Thanks

BG:EE does not have a software renderer, i.e. you can't disable hardware acceleration. That said, it's possible that your nvidia optimus video card is just being retarded and not running the game on the GPU. Check out http://netbooknetwork.net/2010/force-nvidia-processor-on-specific-programs-for-laptops-with-nvidia-optimus/ for instructions on how to force the game to run on the GPU.

Specifying the bgee.exe under the control panel did nothing, but switching on the nVidia card under the global settings (meaning that integrated graphics aren't used at all anymore) did the trick. This is a great temporary fix, but is it that the bgee.exe file is the wrong one, or that there are other .exe files, too?

In any case, thanks a lot friend.

This is a bug in NVidia's driver, not BG:EE. It's not detecting that BG:EE is an application it should run on the GPU. This has been a common issue with other games as well on this technology.

I'm afraid this temporary fix is going be the only one until NVidia fixes their shit.

Or you run it off an actual pc. Not a laptop.
