How to fix *some* graphical issues (NVIDIA)

So you have blurry text? Here is the fix for NEWER NVIDIA cards (Windows):
- go into your NVIDIA control panel (if you do not have the green icon in your taskbar icons, search your programs for the NVIDIA folder, should be there)
- Manage settings (mine says 3D settings, right above Physx Config) on left side menu bar
- Global settings are selected by default, click the tab for program settings
- Under select program to optimize, click the "add" button
- you want to find "BALDUR.EXE" which is in the baldues gate ee/data/7066 file)
- add that file
- TURN OFF VSYNC, TRIPLE BUFFERING, and ANTIALIASING FXAA

that should work for the text. I will update if i find any more issues.

this should be an easy patch, too, but if you can't wait it is working well so far.

this also fixes the "no circle under my avatar" and "no fog of war" glitches. Also, no crash to desktop upon resting.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. That fixed an issue I was going to complain about.

Do you get "grainy" graphics when zooming in? And what color is the circle under your character? Here I see a double white circles, which seems strange since I was accustomed to seeing it green...

+1 rep helped me out big-time, why is this not already tested to start with!?

Circle under avatar is red (i guess maybe because of infravision?), no graphical issues in inventory, mouse pointer does not disappear. Seems to work fine so far. Have not tried zooming in....

i think each character has a different color circle

Color circles for party members is set by the major color of their clothes.

Though, if you want the old green circles back for your party members, go to your .ini file (open it with something better than Notepad) and add this line:

    'Game Options', 'Color Circles', '0',

I stickied this discussion to give it more visibility.

Inetersting and thanks. FXAA is off by default. Triple buffering is off by default. Vsync Ive manually put as off. The app before changing this was locked to 30fps anyway - msi afterburner showed just 4% utilisation of one on my gpus (I have gtx 680s in sli) and very little gpu memory use.

I juist confirmed it. Vysnc off doesnt do anything as the game is locked to 30fps. While I have a 3d monitor with a refresh rate of 120hz, even with vysnc set to default the game will never exceed 30fps so even a 60hz monitor wont run into the limit. I havent noticed any change in the video quality or any other change so Im confused as to why you other blokes are getting any difference. Im on nvidia 64 bit windows 8 310.64.

I am in complete agreement here. Just as a lark, I took screen shots from this "enhanced" version and the older Tutu version and had a friend try to tell me which was the new one. She thought the Tutu version was the new one. What does that say about this "enhanced" version??? I am unimpressed.

Not to cause offense, but, maybe she couldn't tell the difference because Tutu and BG:EE use the same engine? Of course they would be similar.

Did you think BG:EE would look like Dragon Age instead?

EE has the potential to crush Tutu, although i miss the ability to play at 60 FPS, i'm sure they will unlock that ability at some point.

Unpinning this as it now linked from a more general technical faq. http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8405/read-before-posting-master-thread-of-technical-faq

This didn't help me. The game should not be using those features by default. The blurriness is caused by the really boneheaded decision to assume everyone is playing at iPad resolution and then scale the assets up instead of using higher resolution ones.

No offense taken. However, you seem to have missed my point. First, my friend is a fan of BG1 (and RPGs in general) and was considering the purchase of BG:EE. She is a hardcore gamer and knows what she likes. Second, the comparison was not, "These are so alike can you tell the difference?" It was, "Look at these two pictures and tell me which you think looks better." The Tutu interface looks crisper and cleaner than the EE version. She was as disappointed as I to see that Tutu looked better. If you saw them, I believe you would understand. I did not fiddle with any settings. Both are immediately outside the Inn at the start of the game and both at 1280x720 resolution. I was startled at the difference and how much better Tutu actually looked. Why should a "high res" interface look blurrier? IMO, it should not; it should look clean.

    @forgotten_wolf
Perhaps the potential is there, but it does not appear that it will be relatively soon. It seems they have their hands full correcting the numerous current bugs to be concerned about "crushing" Tutu.

I 100% agree. Explains also the low resolution GUI Buttons on the Left. Is it so disappointing that only because of that damn tablets a standard 1080P resolution is simply being ignored.

Tried in Windowed Mode - at a small screen the GUI is quite sharp. But Fullscreen 1920 x 1080 it is just UGLY to look at.

Very disappointet at the moment. We have 2012 - There is also 1080P Available and not only 1280 x 720 and other midscreen resolutions!

Btw. There is quite an awesome german Baldur's Gate Forum around... And so far nearly all the review threads there have been in a negative way. That should be a warning sign!

I am also at 1080p resolution. I have both BG1 with widescreen mod and BG:EE installed. @1080p resolution the difference is.... staggering! BG:EE looks so sub-par and GUI looks terrible. No one can tell me that it is not scaled!

Don"t get me wrong... I wanted this to be my ultimate BG1 experience but so far it is I must say disaster...

I hope they will fix resolution and bugs they introduced. If not, well there is one customer less for their next project...

I just hope that Bg1 and 2 modding community will continue to support original product and will not switch to this one if it is not fixed.

I believe you purchased the Baldur's Gate : Puzzle Edition by accident. If so, it appears to be working normally.

Just wanted to say that I bought the game on Steam today and was having this issue with the fuzzy text but the instructions in the OP worked to fix it with one minor difference, the path to the Steam version of the game is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition\BGEE.exe
