Advice on Divinity 2 as a Infinity engine lover

IVe played alot of CRPGD from baldurs gate to pillars 2 but ive never been able to get into any of the divinity games.Always saw them as a pale comparison back in the day.

I tried divinity 1 but again couldnt get into it. Any advice on this as ive said ive played a lot of those other games on harder difficulties but not sure were to start with this.

Looking for advice on difficulty options and if its worth trying to get into this again. As i said i love CRPGS but have never been able to get into larian games. Will need to eventually for BG3.

Also wondering how the story compares to aforementioned games.

    Just to be clear are we talking about Divinity 2 or Divinity Original Sins 2?
