How to wield two weapons

Ok i feel dumb asking this but I have a ranger thus can starts with two-weapon ability. Yet when i equip two single handed weapons it shows only one in his hand and he uses just the one. So how do i get him to use two. I know this is something I should remember how to do but my mind fails me right now on how to do it.

have you put one of the weapons in your character's shield slot? Equipping multiple weapons at once just lets you switch between them in combat, if you want to use two at once you have to put the second in your shield slot (fyi the shield slot is to the right of your character in the inventory page, just above the right hand ring).

As a note; in the BG engine you can't have a two-handed weapon in your quickslot if your offhand is occupied. So if your dual wielding ranger wants to switch to a bow you will have to open the inventory, manually remove the offhand weapon, then equip the bow.
