Scaling a Cliff? Difficulty Check or Die?

I wonder what the best way to do this would be... I have a cliff section - where I'd like for the PC's to have to roll a dexterity check (to successfully climb) or an unsuccessful check (fall to their death) ...

I am thinking maybe a trigger that gives the PC a dialogue to attempt to scale the cliff or not

and wondering how this could be scripted... thanks!
