Armor appearance change doesn't work?

I go through the motions and get how I want it to look then hit the button to confirm the change. It takes the price from my gold and then reequips my armor set at default appearance. Please help

    If you are talking about the base game craft trap menu armor appearance modifications, those scripts are based around the Craft Armor and Craft Weapon skills added to the game in Hordes of the Underdark.

    You will need to pass a successful skill check in order to successfully change your armor to the appearance you chose, and the value of the armor will affect the cost and the Difficulty Class (DC) of the attempt. Successive failures become costly, as an intended effect.
