Do you encounter this during the game, or only from the other tab? In other words, will my character I use during the main game be used in the Black Pits?

    You pick whether you want to do Black pits or original baldurs gate when the game starts. There are separate characters. You may be able to import your bro from the main game to it and vice versa, but I'm not sure about that.
