Darkness over Daggerford - Vessel of Flame

Has anyone discovered any purpose for the Vessel of Flame object located inside the Smuggler's Cave in Crab's Claw Coast? The text suggests that something could be placed inside the hole in the vessel's side, but there doesn't appear to be anything I have that would work. Even walkthroughs don't seem to offer any suggestions of what this is for.
