Romance and Imprison

Ran across an interesting question on Reddit’s BG sub. No answers there yet beyond some guesswork. Curious if anyone has a solid answer here.

If you are romancing someone and they get imprisoned, lets say Kangaxx sends them for a time out, are you able to romance someone else?

My (extremely limited and likely incorrect) understanding is that at some point in all romance options you will get to a conversation that flags you as “Romancing *whoever*”. Once this is flagged, you cease getting the options to pursue a romance with other NPCs.

My guess then, is that Imprisonment does not “unflag” that, so you would not be able to romance a new partner.

    i remember reading somewhere that imprisoning or them turning to stone breaks the romance.

    That used to be the case in the original, it shouldn't happen anymore in the EEs.
