Weapon Proficiency Slots for a Berserker

in New Players (NO SPOILERS!)
Going to play through BG1 for the first time and I am wondering which weapon profieciency slots would be worth while starting out with?

I've played BG2 a great deal, but I got no clue about the better weapons in BG1 throughout the game.
Any tips to profieciency order?

    longswords and single weapon/two-weapon style

    Thanks raywind, how about flails and war hammers? Please mind that I'm not going to dual/multi class

    well in original bg flails arent that great but warhammer is allmost as good of an option as the longsword is, i would suggest using single weapon style for that double crit rate and ac bonus because you cant get grandmastery AND dual wield both to the point where they really start to shine.

    Forgot to add that the reason longswords are better than flails is the amout of magical weapons for those. BUT i dont know what weapons they have added to the game so cant be sure about anything, all i know is that they added clubs.

    I just found Backbiter tonight. That wasn't there before. This is a whole new ballgame.
