IWD:EE Game crashes upon saving the game

I had installed the Item Upgrade mod and the Tweaks mod from G3, and put the Debug Mode in the baldur file. My game was crashing so I uninstalled and removed all the mod files.
I reinstalled the game and started it without mods and it crashes whenever a save is made. It crashed at the auto save after Hrothgar's opening lines, it crashed when I left the inn, it crashes when I try to enter hrothgar's house. I tried a quick save and a manual save and it crashed. Other than that I'm able to wander around the town and go in and out of buildings that don't trigger a save just fine.
