Invoker or Evoker?

Hello!

I've a question to you D&D fans out there.

Why does the specialist mage "Invoker" calls himself Invoker and not "Evoker" as per the 3rd edition? I never seem to have gotten this right. Did they change the name after a couple of editions in D&D?

Thanks in advance!

It probably just changed. 3rd edition wasn't a thing when BG came out.

On 2nd edition he was called invoker because the school was called, as far as I recall , Invocation/Evocation .

Okey! I've read alittlebit about it, and it seems invocation magic hails from the divine spectrum of magic aswell. Thus the invoker became a class of divine power, while the evoker remained within the arcane.
