Godsmen Bug - Spoilers

The Godsmen leader advertised a Charisma Bonus for joining them. But after joining them I did not get any Charisma Bonus. Did I misunderstand this or is this a bug?

Looking at various online threads, it seems like there should be a charisma bonus.
