nwn mp save game load point

hey all,
i have to imagine this topic has been covered before, but i cant find a search button for the forums... so here it is:
we're playing nwn:ee and are a little bit into chapter 2. my buddy and i are playing online multiplayer, im the host. the characters we are using are used ONLY in this mp game (not in any other online modules or in sp). every time i load a game it starts me/us back at the beginning of the chapter (which really sucks). toward the end of ch1, there was a few times where if i loaded up a saved game and he entered/loaded in first, he would be at the point where we saved it (e.g., in front of the door of a dungeon boss), then when i entered, id be beside him. this only happened a few times. EVERY time i load in first it always puts us at the beginning of the chapter.
at first it didnt matter much, but now its super annoying and a massive waste of time running all the way back into a dungeon.
anyone know how to fix this so we load up where last saved it?
