(PS4) - Planar Sphere door locked

I was playing with a fighter/mage and I accessed the Planar Sphere using Valygar's body. Upon completing the quest and taking Lavok outside I get the message that the sphere was granted to me, yet the main door remains closed without any meas to open it. I tried reloading a save, but it is the same issue again. I can leave the sphere, but never enter it again. Even the mage stronghold can be started (by refusing to take Lavok out). There clearly a bug here.
Since this is a PS4 version, I cannot use the console commands to get around this. Any ideas?
