Valygar missing in his cabin

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Hello,
I got the quest for the Hunt for Valygar and then went to his cabin as I was in Umar hills.
After that I was into his house in the Docks, spoke to his servant and returned to the cabin. He isnt there though?
Altough there is a dead body on his bed.

Is it a bug, I am not sure because I can not enter the planar sphere also. Thought maybe I saw him already and told him to do this thing, which would have opened the sphere IIRC.

    There are two cabins in the Umar Hills. It sounds like you entered the one in the southwest, formerly used by Mazzy. Valygar's cabin is in the north.
