Do saves survive well the transition from a modded install to a new one?

Awhile back I started a game on a Big World install of BGEE 2.3, I'm in late BG1 and I feel like resuming it to finally try Dragonspear. But I know BGEE 2.6 is gonna come out sooner or later (well by now I guess it's already later :D )

Just wondering, lets say I play Dragonspear now on that install of 2.3 and save at the beggining of BG2. Would the save likely survive well to a transition of a new install of modded BG2EE 2.6? Seems like it would be worth it to redo the build with updated versions of mods on the new patch, including the new Big World. Or I could just wait and start over if it's going to cause too many problems.

    your save is gonna get screwed up as updates delete the mod files requiring a reinstall.

    Gotcha. Suspected that might be the case. Then I'll either just play to see Dragonspear or wait and start from scratch, thanks.
