Cannot hear the narrator saying "you must gather your party" in dungeons etc

I had a brief power outage while I was playing, and after I restarted the computer and the game after I played for this brief moment, all the settings went back to default (including the language which changed from Polish to English) and so on. Now I cannot hear the narrator when I move my party and there's this 'you must gather your party' message but no sound file playing. Same with those times when I am travelling and there's a random encounter on the world map and I have to defend myself - again, it's like there's something in the options turned off and I cannot hear the narrator. Any way to fix this?
