Baldur’s gate series is great. The first game was released in 1998, and 23 years later there are people still playing and enjoying the saga. The games are pretty good on their own, but sometimes you have to spice them up. How? With mods of course.
I lurk various forum hunting for mods and jewels. Most of them are acknowledged and get what they deserve.
Others do not get enough recognition. That’s why I’m making this topic.
The following are mods made by a guy named Temnix. He released various modules, but they are mostly unknown. Some of the ideas condensed in these modules are very very great and innovative.
I will publish a module every day, so you can keep coming back to this topic without fear of missing out.
That’s the first mod:
1) Out, brief Candlekeep (For BG1:EE) - compatible with EET.

There is a certain purity in the prologue area, born to train the new player and to annoy the veteran player by making him choose between some frivololus xp or leaving immediately with Gorion. But what if there could be more? You meet Gorion and from his words there is a certain sense of impending doom.
What if that doom finds you? With this mod, Gorions words are now reflection of reality. Waiting too much inside the Candlekeep Fortress is something you should avoid, because after some time, assassins will come hunt you.
And do not even dare to think that spilling blood in the keep is something that you can do without consequences.
Listen to Gorion and be hasty, if you want to escape Candlekeep unhurt.

Ever wondered why imps, mephit, quasit are so silent and anonymous in the vanilla game?
With this mod, now you can hear them hopping when walking. And also be reminded that they are in fact, monsters.

Bored of the same sounds every time you play Baldur’s gate ? Fear no more. This mod adds new sound for a variety of different things, like … menu, Gold pick up, tavern music when going near taverns… and much more.

The videos do not do justice to the mod. Experience it, trust me.

Edit: Fixed the link, it was wrong.
With this mod, Temnix randomized the appearance of several creatures you’ll be meeting in game.
Also, npc(s) belonging to certain groups, like Flaming Fist Enforcers and Candlekeep watchers have now a distinguishable look making you able to realize who they are at first glance.
E.g:
Flaming fist enforcer
Candlekeep watchers
And not only that: countless cosmetic variations within the same group have also been added to be reasonably sure you won’t be meeting two identical creatures.
Much more is waiting for you here: https://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/topic/31405-some-individuals-mod-for-bg1/?tab=comments#comment-281429
Ever noticed that money seem to matter only to the player's character? New party members join you, but no one seem to care about gold. Odd, don't you think?
With this mod, gold will now be a mechanic of your games: everyone in your party will want a fair split of the share.
There is also a chance that the party companions will actually spend their hard-earned gold in perks that improve them, like:
Rites of undertaking: +3 to turn undead level. Cleric. 4000.
Acupunctual stabber: +1 backstab damage multiplier, up to x5. Thief. 5000.
Street academy T: +10% to all thieving skills. Thief. 4000.
Street academy B: +30% to Pick Pockets and +20 to Lore. Bard. 4000.
Steadier hand: -1 to THAC0. 4000. Fighter, paladin, ranger.
Hidden plating: -1 to AC. 3000. All classes.
A cleric undergoing the Rites of Undertaking:
These perks are also available to the player, making gold a really important resource.

This is an interesting tweak for the people that loathe the current summoning mechanics. There are two things a player can find annoying:
1) Killing enemies’ summons does not give you any xp.
2) Killing the enemy summoner still forces you to kill all these summons or wait for them to expire.
This mod changes point 2): now the summoned creatures are linked to their master, so if you kill the master, the summons will vanish.

Wow, this one looks really interesting!
Both paladin and ranger classes are supposed to have an ethos, a series of rules that they should follow to not fall. In baldur’s gate falling is merely a matter of reputation.
No more. This mod adds a new layer of roleplaying to Ranger and Paladin; you will have to act as a true ranger or as a true paladin.
Doing wrong is not a one way-ticket to reload button. This is because the mod adds the possibility for fallen paladin and ranger to atone for their misdeeds.
The question is: are you worthy of being a paladin or a ranger in BG? You can now check it yourself with this mod.

Are you sick of fighting every single creature to death? Does your heritage influence way too much all the encounters?
Not anymore! With this mod, some of the creatures you will encounter will value their life more than their intent on killing you: if they are heavily wounded, they will ask for mercy and you can decide what to do with them.
Will you spare them and make Gorion’s proud, or will you indulge in your Evil nature?

This mod reworks the mind control spells, by making them more interesting and nuanced.
1) In BG1, some of the npcs you charm have “hidden” dialogues. A cool mechanic, but after the charm spell ends, you are always met with the hostility of the npc you’ve charmed. With this mod installed, there is no automatism anymore, and you won’t be always see a red circle after the charm spell ends.
2) Domination spell now make it so that dominated enemies drop their stuff.
3) A new spell has been added, Hypnosis. This spell adds new roleplaying options:

This mod is an item pack.
1) The items you find there are not the nth +2 item or +2 to saving throw. In fact, they have no stats.
To help you realize what they are for, they have a description that will give you clues, mimicking what happens in some D&D session, where you are not told always instantly what an item is for… you, the player, have to experiment with it to see if it is actually useful or not.
The items added have a variety of functions, that you are encouraged to discover. Some examples:
Coal Pit
Torches
Disguises
Flares
Ropes
2) Some of the items that you need for quests have been tweaked. One example is the bottle of wine for Durlag’s tower. You are getting asked to deliver it, but if it holds power, why would you relinquish it? Now you have a choice to forsake Durlag’s tower for a “fast” reward.
3) Generic npcs, like commoners, noble, bystanders have been touched. No more they are clones of each other, being 9-9-9-9-9-9 with no interesting items on them. In fact, they will now have clothing and decent treasures. Treasure that you can hope to get if you…
4) Play dice with them! Now you can actually play dice with npc. With rules too!
What are you waiting for? Go get it here!

This mod was born from the dissatisfaction Temnix has toward the current state of sorcerers, where power seems to flow unto them naturally, just by the mere experience. There is no real link between exploration and achievement, if not by getting new levels that automatically translates into more spells.
Now the sorcerer has a reason to explore: he will be able to absorb the knowledge from the scrolls. But there is a price to pay....

This mod adds a new mechanic: you can now (try to) slay helpless enemies immediately, if they do not belong to certain type of enemies.

This mod introduces private property to Baldur's gate. Looting is still definitely possible, but the goods you will be trafficking won't be as profitable as before...
