Game will not start a new game (or open a new module at the beginning of the module)

  • Windows 10 64bit
  • Steam Copy of NWN:EE
  • Steps Taken to resolve:
    [**] Computer restarted
    [**] Fresh Install
    [**] Vanilla (removed all mods in attempt to resolve)
    [**] Movies disabled
    [**] Drivers checked and verified

The game opens fine and has no issues until I try to start a new game. (I can load old games without issue.)

I can go through Character selection or creations without issue. But when I go to start the game the screen goes black and the intro movies do not play, nor does the module load. I can quit the game from by alt-tab and closing it from the task bar, which makes the game ask "Quit NeverWinter Night?" as normal.

Note: This is for any module. Even loading a game that I started in the prelude and finishing the prelude causes it to crash when Chapter One is to load.
