ReplaceObjectTexture() Query

Simple question - Will ReplaceObjectTexture() work with mtr files? Thing is I have a fully public domain model with (in theory at least) 84 different appearances. That is it has a choice of 7 diffuse, 3 specular and 4 normals. So you can see the potential here.
