2.6 Multiplayer problems?

Hi,
My brother and I have both updated to the latest version (2.6) and have had quite a few issues with multiplayer. He cannot join any games that I host (or visa-versa), we just get stuck at the waiting for connection page. We can usually start a game with Hamachi but can rarely last more than 10 minutes before he loses connection. We have been playing BG1 co-op for about a year and have generally had a good experience for most of that. We might have had a few issues in the week leading up to the 2.6 patch, so it might not be to blame. Was 2.6 so supposed to improve this aspect of multiplayer with BG?
We don't have any problems playing any other multiplayer games. Why does BG have such difficulty connecting and maintaining a connection?
