Game Keeps Crashing when I try to load it

I have a save file that I can't load. Once I try to select it the whole game crashes. It might be related to the custom portrait I have for my character. I'm also trying to get back to a place I was at before losing the save file so I gave the character an item to help them get through faster. Otherwise does anyone have any thoughts about what's going on and if I can save the file?
