Recurring freezing/crash

I'm experiencing frequent freezing/crashes when playing. It just freezes and I have to alt-tab out and close the windows dialog box that tells me that Baldur's Gate stopped working. This happens on different actions. Once just moving. Once during saving, during loading...and so on.
Only thing it has in common is that it happens regularly. I learned to use the quick save though ;-)
Anyone else experience this?

I'm om a good pc - fairly new hardware - updated, win 7...

    You should post some more information. Graphics card, driver version, running background programs and so on - something were people can check for similarities and find the "evil" component... Especially for such problems that can't be reproduced "on demand". ;-)
