BGEE: Lock zoom at desired level?

There's another thread about "custom zoom," but I'm not sure if that's related...
Zoom generally stays at whatever you set it to (e.g. via mousewheel), but there are exceptions such as during some scripted events. The menu already contains an option to "lock zoom," but this apparently locks it to the most zoomed out level.
It would be great if we had an option to "Lock zoom to current level" so that the zoom would be locked to whatever the current level is, and you could play through the game at your desired zoom level without constantly having to reset it.
Is this possible?
