Failed to Create D3D Device Game will Close

Trying to run BG1EE 2.6.6 and I get the error shown above. Why does the 6.6 patch refuse to be played?

    Small update, it seems to be working now, but I don't even know what changed. The game is crashing every other paly session for seemingly different reasons. I'll keep this open in case the error pops back up soon.

    What windows/video card you have?

    Nvidia GTX 860m

    It shouldn't really matter though, I could run literally every other iteration of Baldur's Gate on this computer.
