Joystick Support?

Hello!
Are there any plans that I can look forward to regarding controller (XB1, PS4/PS5, ETC) support on Steam/GoG? I've done some Google research and some posts date back a couple years, but no definite answers other than simply, "not at the moment."

Before asking why I want controller support, or saying the game is meant to be played on KB+M: please consider that I have done this and do not enjoy it as much as I would with a controller. My options aren't limited as I already own an XB1 and could (and WOULD!) buy it for that just to enjoy it with a controller. However I like my network in Steam and the interface/layouts/achievements and general comfort of a PC. I'm asking specifically about official controller support as if "ported" from XB1/PS4/PS5.
