Baldur's Gate Creates Saves and Data at the Root of My SSD

I have a separate SSD drive for just games and game data, the K drive.
Baldur's Gate is installed on the K drive:
K:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition
I created and hard linked all game data files from:
C:\Users\KT Chong\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition
To:
K:\KT Chong\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition
I want to keep all my game program files and data on the same drive for gaming.
Which worked previously, but now Baldur's Gate is creating data and save folders and files on the root of the K drive, which is driving me crazy. I think this happened only after the most recent update.
I backed up my data in Documents, and removed the hard link and destination. I removed and reinstalled Baldur's Gate. The game still creates data file in the K root. It did not even use C:\Users\KT Chong\Documents\
It's Windows 10 Home 64. Any suggestion on how to solve the problem?

Windows settings → Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → ransomware protection → Controlled folder access
Turn "Controlled folder access" OFF, and problem solved. The ransomware protection was blocking Baldur's Gate from accessing the User\Documents folder.
