Aldeth Sashenstar and the Merchant's League (Spoilers)

So I've been looking at different discussions on Aldeth Sashenstar and the way to go. I'm playing evil and normally I go ahead and kill Aldeth and then later, his brother Dabron - to get the Crossbow. My question I guess is, if you can't go into the Merchant League (apart from XP which I max out on pretty darn easily already) what else are you missing out on? Any treasure? You get his sword when you kill him, obviously.
