Stat Cap of 27?

I decided to do a run-through of SoU and HotU. I'm in HotU now, and realized that I've hit a hard cap for my strength of 27. Is this true for every stat? This is definitely novel to EE as I've had strength and other ability scores easily in the 30's in the original game.

So I just leveled up to level 20. I put a point into strength to check, and my overall strength rose to 28. I'm not sure I understand. Does this mean that there's a cap on how much of a stat you can stack on equipment? I have Squires Defense, Nasher's Ring of Strength, Gauntlets of Ogre Power, and a Belt of Fire Giant Strength for a total of +13, but only +12 is being shown and Bull's Strength has no effect.

Thank you for that! I was trying to find it on the Wiki before posting, but couldn't come up with the right search phrase. I must have either never noticed this cap or simply forgot it ever existed. Either way, I appreciate your help!

Generally Proleric is right for NWN V1.69 (NWN-Diamond Edition)! But the article he linked is outdated!
It does not account for the changes in the current patch-version of NWN-Enhanced edition.

In NWNE v86.8193.34.1 (the version I currently play) if you play the game by default the stat cap is still +12. But if you go to the Game Options - menue, under game, general, there is an option called "Combat Sticky Modes". Under this option is an "advanced"-slider. Click on it and additional options will pop up. The option "Combat Max Abiltiy Bonus" let you change the abiltiy cap, by default it's set to +12, but you can set it to +255.
Personally I set it to +100.
Currently I play the OC with a Dwarven Defender with my current settings I was able to boost by pc's constitution from 16 to 30 with spells and items, basically an ability bonus of +14.
So the article from NWN-Wiki is really outdated.
