BG2EE PS4, Can't use Wand of Lightning

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I feel like I have gotten comfortable with the PS4 control scheme after so many dozens of hours using mouse and keyboard for PC on the vanilla edition, but am I overlooking something when I try to use lightning wands? I do not get the miniature '6' indicating that I can select six targets; I only get one click before it changes back to the standard attack/talk icons depending on hostile/neutral targets. I have tried various button combinations but nothing has helped.

Is this common with other console ports also?
