Can you uninstall SCS components mid game?

Accidentally installed the customizable NPCs component in SCS, so all the joinable NPCs are starting at 0 and I have to level them up. I'd really rather not.

I tried uninstalling the component. Terminal will say it's uninstalled but new characters are still starting at 0. Am I SOL? I'd really love to avoid starting a new game, let alone reinstalling all my mods.

    The standard NPCs are already in the game file that's part of the save. Not only is it generally not recommended to change mods mid-run, this one is a particularly bad idea as the changes the NPC starting conditions are already there in the save even if you haven't met them. All you've done is removed the scripts that level them back up.

    Start a new run.
