Multiplayer game freezes on area transition

Whenever I try to go to another area in a multiplayer game, the game would freeze up and become unresponsive. Seemed to be ok with only two players in the game, but when we added a third, it would happen every single time.

the only way I could get around it would be to have them leave the game so I could take over their characters, then do the transition myself, then have them log back in and reassign their characters.
