Getting the Scimitar from Vidyadhar

in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
How do you kill Vidyadhar ? I can do damage but he teleports away and only drops the Modron Heart

    Ah. Worked it out. Just need to set a lot more traps than I had previously

    Is there a way to do this with mods installed? First run through with have Rogue rebalance, IWDification, SCS and Tweaks anthology installed. However traps in the same location but set at different times don't seem to work anymore
