Question About Making A Hood/Cowl

Okay. I feel a little silly asking this, but I can't for the life of me, figure out how to make a hood - like a helmet or an armor with hood attached? It seerms like I've made one before. If i did, I can't recall how to do it...
Anyone know how to make one of these?

    The traditional approach was to make a helmet, with shadow instead of a face.

    Some open-face helms have also been done with head-aligned vfx (see example).

    You need the hood to move with the head, so chest armour is no good, though other body parts can work - for example, Lisa's Cavalier hat.

    I recall some discussion of open-face helms in EE but don't remember the outcome.
