In this game, you cannot dual class to a mage kit.

In vanilla BG, it was possible (ex : dual Imoen to a conjurer).

Intended behavior : repair this function, so that we can dual class to a mage kit, as it was possible in vanilla !

    How is this a bug and not a feature request?

    I see that as a bug, since it was possible in the first game (and that we're talking of an enhanced edition of the first game ...).

    Not a BG2 under-provement ;-)

    Kits didn't exist in bg1, that's the difference.
    It might be possible to dual into specialist if your original class is unkitted (like Imoen).
    But don't hold your breath, this will be considered as a feature request.

    You can still try using ShadowKeeper.

    Thanks very much for your answer.

    Still, it would be very cool to allow this, because this was doable in vanilla BG.

    Standard class (warrior, thief, priest) to mage specialist.

    You cannot dual to specialists, or kits! Imoen duals to normal mage. Maybe Gnomes can dual to illusionist but thats it. Even in BG2.

    It was doable in Vanilla BG with the latest patches. I can testify of this as soon as I am in front of my computer.
    And it was not a bug, because mage specialists are not "kits" like warrior or Paladin one.
    otherwise, go and play vanilla BG and check by yourself.

    I mentioned kits as in, when you dual to thief you become a thief, not a swashbuckler or assassin etc. Yes specialist wizards can have kits. I'm not an idiot. I actually played AD&D2E. You also cannot have multi class specialist wizard with only one exception, gnome and illusionist. Multi and dual classes are not permitted to all these perks. Kits for multi class characters didn't even come until the race books came out, then there were a few limited classes with some steep drawbacks for multiclasses of those races. IF you are multiclass you can not take a single class kit or specialist Wizard(cept gnomes) you have to dual from specialist Wizard to basic whatever class, this wasn't even allowed always.

    @Woo

    They take it out in bg2, but in baldurs gate 1 , it was permited.

    @Aasimar069
    BG:EE uses the BG2:TOB as base , so you cant, its asked as feature request , or you can just use shadowkeeper.

    Moving this one.

    The catch is though, you have to make another specialist to copy the affects from. Just changing your kit to whatever won't give you the bonus spell per level/proper restriction you're supposed to have.
