Do you have to be online to play?

Everytime i load the game it asks for me log in to Beamdog, so i was wondering if i could play without an internet connection and if so how

    You can start your game from /baldur.exe and you don't need to be online

    Seeing as the game was just released, it's not a bad idea to run it online to keep it updated. I imagine there'll be a patch out sooner or later.
