Cycling Tile Appearance

I've been downloading lots of cool tilesets, some of which are bristling with so many trees, that I can't even see to paint tiles down. It's just that I like to begin with a clean slate. My question is: Is there a super-duper method of instantly vanishing all of the trees simultaneously. Cycling using the eraser tool is grueling to say the least, especially with large maps.

So, if any of you good people know of a faster better way, I'm all ears...
Thanks,
Z

Not quite instant, but you can copy a grass tile, paste to make 2 x 2, copy the 2 x 2, paste to make a 4 x 4, and so on.

Also, cycling using Shift-Rclick is faster than Eraser, because it cycles in strict sequence, not at random.
