baldurs gate original durlag's tower wont load

i just rebought the original baldurs gate a few months ago and durlag's tower wouldn't load. i thought i had scratched the cd when forcing it in my cd rom (it does appear scratched) but i reordered it and now have a second (though unscratched) copy of it where it doesn't load either. ulgoth's beard doesn't load as well making TOSC basically useless. i am wondering if there is a patch for this or if some of the CD's weren't written right or something. ia ma going to reinstall in the mean time hoping maybe the install process went wrong and it will fix it that way if i can find out how to keep my saved games. any help would be appreciated. ...thnx.
