A question about the cloud save feature.

Is the cloud save service usable from within a game's own settings (in this case BG1:EE) Beamdog's own thing, and thus separatate from the one usable from within Steam? If they are separate and not the same thing, I would like to use Steam's own cloud save feature, so do I just disable the one from in-game settings and enable the one from Steam's settings?
