Windows 7 Problems?

My friend and I are trying to connect and cant seem to get it.
I'm on windows 7 and I don't see an open port button, but the firewall does say it approves BGEE so I don't see the problem.
Whenever my friend tries to log into my game he says he just gets a crash message and nothing.
HELP!
