console keeps opening randomly

Has anyone ever run into an issue where the console (normally opens with ~) just keeps opening randomly? Tonight we had one player this was happening to a lot. He said is was happening when he was holding down tab to highlight things, but then he also reported it was happening randomly at other times when he was just using the keyboard normally, especially when he was pressing the function keys (F1, F2, etc) for the quickslots. We didn't find where you could change the key bindings for the console and I don't think that's even possible. He reported he does not have any macros or anything like that enabled and his keyboard and mouse seem to be functioning normally otherwise. He did try testing playing single player using an offline copy of his server vault character and played through the whole intro main campaign module with no problems. For some reason it's only happening when he plays with the rest of us online connected to my server. I think the next thing I'm going to have him try is making a new character in our server vault, and if that doesn't work, back up his vault, then wipe it and his entry from nwnplayer.ini and have him log in to create a new server vault folder. If he can make and use a character in there, maybe then I'll try restoring his backed up character and see if that works. Any thoughts?
