[QUESTION] Weapon with slashing or piercing damage whichever is greater?

How is as weapon (like a Halbard) with slashing or piercing damage represented within the game?

Does it use the target creatures damage resistance when selecting if piercing or slashing damage is used? Does THAC0 play a role at all?

    "Uses whichever damage type and AC the creature has the worst damage resistance against (regardless if its AC is better or worse). Uses Piercing if equal resistance."
