no spells in ipad version

hello,
i started another run with icewind dale, this time on the ipad.
i have pure mage in my group but he dows have any spells beind level3 ? there is no scrolls to learn new speel from.
if i start Heart of winter with new party, same thing the mage's spell book is emty.
its bug or a feature ?
