Keep Cheats

WardWard Member Posts: 1,305
I'm sure they won't change this, but I hope cheats are kept in game. I've heard talk people want all of them gone, but come on, it's a choice on HOW you want to play. There are people requesting changes that are really as good as just cheating, we don't want an easy game.

Me, I use cheats to get 18 in every stat. That's the only cheat I use, though. If I play a fighter I can't bear him only having 3 INT, CHA and WIS. I don't have any problem with doing that, it doesn't hurt my gaming experience, just saves time.

What do you people think?

    Oooooooh, so it doesn't hurt your gaming experience???

    Ofcourse it does. A character is totally playable without a single 18 stat and I promise you will get a very different experience.

    I personally do NOT like cheats, mainly because I can't stop myself from using them once I know they exist.

    But by all means, I never learned how to change scores and I am not about to start, so keep it if you think it's a good idea.

    @Lindeblom

    You're right, the gaming experience will be different. But the difference will only be negatives. Less options with NPCs, more expensive goods (which doesn't matter because money is easy) and less Will Saves (also doesn't matter, beholders easy).

    I only do it so I get the FULL experience, even if it's slightly easier at the market and the beholders. There are a lot of CHA and a few INT checks when it comes to NPCs in BG:II.

    In Baldur's Gate, what people generally refers to as "cheats" are actually commands intended for the devs for debugging purposes. I doubt they are going to remove those.

    The cheat interface, CLUAConsole, is extremely helpful for users, especially when running modded games. CLUAConsole allows for on-the-fly variable monitoring and adjusting. Other uses include getting out of maps after game or mod bugs, restoring items lost by mistake, etc.

    I just hope the devs implement full support for the cheat engine on all platforms, including the iPad. Otherwise I think modding support on those platforms will be severely impaired.
