Familiar disappears when releasing from pack (IWD:EE/Switch)

Nevermind. I finished the game.
I don't think I have dug this hole for myself
My familiar is in my pack, when I release it, it makes the sound effect but then the cat isn't there even after walking around a bit.
No HP/Con change.
I have not edited any game saves.
I put the cat in the bag close to a point when the cat was under a spell causing it to attack the party. I used a ranger's Charm Animal, then waited for what seemed to be long enough for whatever spell the cat was under to wear off as other affected party members were not attacking anymore.
My party members are cat people, so any tips to recover the cat would make them very happy.
